Hak,
(All this is said with my tail between my legs because I was a dick to you last time I posted in one of your threads and now respect you as God of HID lighting )

I have wired up a very similar setup for my HIDs, and was wondering how it would work if I diode isolated the high and low beam wires and connected both to pin 85 on the realys. (in order to avoid a restrike if and when I accidently hit the switch.)
Think this would work? Any downside I may not be considering?

I used 2 relays just to be safe one for each side.

No problem man. I hold no grudges.

Anyways, to fix your fear of accidental restrike all you need to really do is place a diode in between the low beam wire and the high beam wire. Like so...

However, this is a warning, should you ever place your halogen or stock bulbs back in, you MUST remove this diode or else it will cause both filaments to be on once you hit highbeams and the stock electrical system will overload thus blowing the high beam circuit fuse constantly.

SWEET ! ! ! Thanks hak' BTW my Hella Gen 3s will be here after the weekend, just in time for your harnesses to arrive. Your set-up is a lot nicer, more professional looking than mine, with all the wire loom. I've got a bunch of zipties, otherwise, same in design; of course it was designed from your diagram, but yours has a better quality relay; which I couldn't find anywhere... (Bosch or AAMP)

If I had an analogy to describe an HID retro, it would be akin to going from dial-up internet to cable/fiber internet. it's that much of difference in lighting. I'm soooo glad I took the plunge into this retro project, my eyes thank me for it.

ok now i know i asked but never got a very clear answer the diode leaves the ballasts on when you switch to high beams but were does the red wire from the TL's bi-xenon projector go. To the red wire in the 9007 connector on the car, right?

but the 12v power from the 9007 to the motor is constant right. what happens once the tl's actuator opens all the way does some thing sense it and cut the power at the actuator. reason i ask is i dont want to burn up the motor/actuator.

it's not a motor, it's an electro-magnet that lifts the shield; no worries with burning it out.

No, its only activiated when you press the highbeams [ON]. Think of it just like how your car works now. When you flip on for highbeams, THEN the solenoid for shield operates and moves the lowbeam shield out of the the way to expose the high beam shield. It is not being fed consistant power at all times unless of course your had the high beams on at all times.

I recommend this to anyone who is upgrading their stock lighting wether it be from a high wattage halogen bulb or HID to aftermarket fog lights.

I know the bling lights kit (same kits dark syde sells) comes with a harness but it is a "plug and play" harness which all it does is basically connect the stock 9007 plug into a plug on a harness that connects to the ballasts. Judging from what I've seen on that harness it still utilizes the stock wiring 100% and does not safeguard your electrical system should a issue occure.
