Hey all. Its not really a major problem like they melt your housing or whatever, but the PIAA bulbs are not worth the money. I bought a pair of PIAA Xtreme Whites which went for close to $90 here. Put them in and damn did they look good. I drove around for a while without any problems and occasionally got ocomming traffic to flash their highs thinking mine were on.
Well, just tonight I decided to compare them to these Sliverstars I had laying around from my old car. So I put the Silverstar in one of the headlamps and let a rip. Wow. The Silverstar was brighter and whiter than the PIAA. I could not believe I wasted more than twice what I paid for the Silverstars on something of lesser performance. If you guys want I could swap one out again and take pictures. Believe me I was shocked too.
Silverstars = sweet.
P.S. - Just ordered my new foglights tonight.... Silverstars I'll take pics when they come in but I have yellow lenses over my fogs.
Wow, I thought I was the only one with this trouble...
I got a discount on my PIAA's, so I don't feel as screwed, but A) these are not 1/2 as bright or white as the H4 PIAA's I had in my Civic, and B) I have the only style PIAA 9007 that I have seen anywhere, the only style 3157 white turn signals I can find anywhere and the white LED 194 side marker bulbs(again PIAA) AND THEY ARE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT COLORS!!!! Anyone have suggestions for decent color-matched sets? Can't afford the HID's right now, so I need some bulbs with a consistent color. HELP!
Munz

I had silverstars and switched to PIAA Xtreme whites. The PIAA's are way brighter. Thats strange that your silverstars are brighter. PIAA's also have a lifetime warranty lol...I think the stock bulbs that come in our cars are brighter then the silverstars

Ryan its funny you say this because I took my Silverstars out and put my stock ones back in and I noticed that my low beams are as bright as my Silverstar hi beams. I thought it was jus me but after a long night on the town I had every 5th car brighting me as if I had my brights on with my stock lights on low. I had sold my Silverstars to get some Piaas but now I think I am just gonna keep my stockers.
I have noticed this with PIAAs vs cheaper bulbs. PIAA's dont look as bright to oncomming traffic as the cheaper bulbs (Silverstars, Eurolites) but the PIAA's actually seem to shine on the road better, and thats whats important. Why? I dunno. But thats my experience.

Weird, my PIAA's are much brighter then the silverstars. I think it all depends on what piaa's you get
I have done extensive testing of the PIAA's (extreme white), Silverstars, Stock, and Cheapo aftermarket bulbs. (prompted by a bad aftermarket bulb purchase(no one buy 14.99 bulbs on ebay - they are a joke))
It turns out that using a light spectrometer, the aftermarket cheapo's are by far the dimmest. The Piaas are brighter than stock by about 20% and the Silverstars are brighter than the PIAA's by about 5%.
I like the PIAA's - they are a great product(with an otc replacement) warranty, but will do the Silverstars next time unless PIAA wises up and gives us Plasma GTX's in our size.(now that is a PIAA bulb that is bright as hell ).
Hello PIAA GTX Plasma, Please. We are just as important as Honda civic's (which I had them on previously)
