Default New HOW TO: Blue HVAC lumination

1.To start all you need to buy is three #74 Blue LED forward facing bulbs from autolumination.com

2.Disassemble Radio/HVAC Dash trim panel so you have access to the HVAC Panel. If you don't know how to remove the panel then you don't need to do this.

3.Take out the two screws that hold the HVAC to the dash.
Gently twist out the three factory bulb sockets. You are now ready for disassembly of the bulbs.

4.Here is a pic of the stock bulbs and sockets, the led bulbs and sockets, and the finished product. The top left is the stock bulb and then right next to it is what it looks like after you straighten the leads and then seperate the two. On the bottom left is the LED bulb and socket. You do the same to disassemble it. Straighten the leads and then gently seperate the bulb from the socket. The key to the LED is to make sure the leads are straight.

5.You take the stock base and the bulb from the led and reassemble just like how the factory bulb was assembled. The LED doesn't go comletely into the housing so just push it down till it hits the resistors. Then bend the leads up and across just like the factory bulbs.

6. Reinstall the sockets into the panel.(for some reason mine was difficult to get twisted back in. I think it is because the leads on the LED are slightly thicker then the stock bulb.) Just be firm and try not to twist the LED to get it installed. Try to twist only the base.

7. Make sure each bulb lights up. They are polarity sensitive.

8. If you want better light distribution with less hot spots, then lightly sand the very tip of the LED to frost it. This will help to make the light come out the sides more and distribute the light more evenly.

I tried to take pics, but my camera is so Crappy, you can't even see the gauges or the HVAC lit up. When in reality it is very bright and readable. You will just have to take my word for it.

Since my camera is such low quality(as you can tell from the pics of the bulbs) I did some searching and this guys HVAC looks exactly like mine. So here you go. I will try and borrow a better camera, but until then this is a good representation of how they look.
