Default New "G3" bolt-in no cut Projector retro - with pics.

Hi guys, you probably have seen my last post about my current "G1" projector retro, Well i'm going to be upgrading to the new "G3" projectors that they have now released.

The New G3 projectors are alot bigger and throw ALOT more light than the G1's while the G1's are good, the G3's are alot better.

Here is a pic of the G3 projector next to a RX330 projector.

However the G3 projectors come with an ugly "ECE"cutoff that can drivers to the right of you. Here is an example of the stock cutoff.

These projectors im told blow away e55's,valeos and even possibly tsx's.
and the best part, no cutting, you still use your factory aiming setup, vents etc.. you just pop off your lenses and install these just the G1's like my other post. pretty cool setup if you cant stand you crappy stock lighting.

Heres a few pics of the G3 projector cutoff with modded DOT shields.

As far as the cutoff, ECE spec vs the DOT spec, Im beginning to think for where I live that the ECE cutoff might work out for me, the reason being that I live up in the poconos of pa, I have alot of Narrow, twisty mountain roads,

My current projectors have a dot step cutoff, and when you hit those blind switchbacks that dip down then up hill, you loose just about ALL Lighting because of the sharp cutoff, its like you just shut your lights off.

The ECE Cutoff has a bit more light on the right up higher, this means that for me,
I have alot more light on the right side of the road, something I need because there is a huge overpopulation of deer up here.

The only downside with the ECE cutoff is that you could potentially blind drivers on 2 lane streets if you are in the left lane and they are on your rightside front corner.

They come shipped complete, just need to buy ballasts, for Projectors that seal like factory, use factory aiming, no need to cut your lights apart, and are comparable to alot of OEM projectors.

Heres a few more pictures of the G1 Projectors compared to the G3's

G1's in my black housing lights, with reflectors that have had the holes filled and the facets smoothed out. the G1's look great, they are very clean looking, but the G3's throw alot more light and alot farther.

The only real concern I have is the total length of the G3's in our lights, I have to take another look at my lights and see if I have another 3/4" of room. I dont want to get too close to the lenses.

G3's in a civic.

G3 Guts.

More cutoff pics, showing the stock ECE cutoff at distance, low beam and highs.

Closer view

I just think these kits are great for the price vs performance ratio they provide. and that our stock lights are dangerously crappy.

ya, you pop off the lenses of your stock lights, take off the little halogen reflectors and pop them in like a regular bulb, but from the front, and crank down on the wingnut on the back.
see my other post for install pics, they are a piece of cake.

Top picture, shows stock TSX projectors, bottom shows the G3 projectors, taken in the same location, same distance, using same camera settings by JVX over at hidplanet...

Those look decent, but that output is most definitely not as good as an E55, or Valeo, or any other OEM projector IMO.

Check out the pictures that JVX took, comparing the G3 projectors to just about ALL Oem projectors under the same camera settings and conditions, You can see how the G3 can hang with oem projectors, a huge improvement over the G1 projectors.

I agree, I have a set of just about every good projector around & can most definately say they are not even equal to any of those projectors listed yet alone better.

For the money & easy of installation they are much better then the previous versions though. They are much nicer & wider then the projectors that come in the MPX projectors.

I brought this thread back, please keep to talking solely about the projectors themselves and not pricing or where to buy them. We have vendors that offer retrofitting services, though much more advanced than these, who pay to be here.
