Default Need some help from all you retro fitters

Ok, so I got a pretty smokin' deal on a set of stock headlights, so I was thinking about doing a retro fit myself. I'm the diy type of person. I've done everything else on my car so far. It doesn't seem too too difficult, so I'm going to give it a shot. Here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to retro fit some g35 projectors. Well, I was thinking about it, and I wasn't sure how I would wire it up. Would it be easier to also install HID's?

Do you understand what a retro is? Its installing oem projectors, hid bulbs, and ballasts, so you cant just install the g35 projectors without an hid kit. To answer your question yes you install hids. For wiring buy a relay harness from theretrofitsource.com and wire it up with that. Wiring is the easy part of a retrofit.

I hadn't done enough reading about it, and didn't realize everything that was involved... I know now what all has to be done. I didn't realize that you had to put hid's in along with the projectors. Sorry, I'm a noob to these things... But I did some reading and looking around, and I have a better grasp now on the whole thing.

you never did answer my question.........
because if its the either one will take some modifications to the projector itself. i wouldn't recommend starting off with those. i used them in my how to just because those are the only ones i documented

Oh ok, thanks for the suggestions. Also what is the purpose of making the mounting bracket? I was youtubing yesterday and this dude on there just siliconed the projector to the reflector. Is that bad?

the bracket is so you can still aim the headlights the oem way, and to take the stress off the reflector itself. i don't like using silicone for that its not that sturdy. it'll last for a little while but, put them in a car slammed to the ground and it will eventually come apart

By the way the video you saw, that is not the way to do a retro. The only good things that kid does is level the projector with the stock headlights and vacuum form.

Yeah... I've been reading lots of threads on it and asking lots of questions, and I realize now that that video is pretty much showing you how to cut corners. Although, I do like how he aligns the lights. It's a pretty good idea.
