Default my HID retrofit thread *pics*

just getting started on the retrofit ...

spent a couple hours tonight taking apart the headlights to get the projectors out... here's how i bought them:

after dissambling and a little cleaning:

the larger projectors are from an infiniti and the smaller ones (pair) out of an audi a6

the projectors i'm going to use for my headlights are the ones out of the infiniti ... i was going to use the other half of the projectors out of the a6 for fog light projectors ... but this seems to be a problem:

both of them are out of the same vehicle but they're both different, as you can see in the picture ... one looks like it uses a 9005 type bulb & the other an h1/h3 type bulb

there's 2 pairs from the a6 ... the pair in the 2nd pic on the far right is from an a6 and then the last pic is also from the same a6 ... for whatever reason the 2 projectors are different & take different bulbs

uncommon: are they from the same year A6? Maybe Audi changed projectors mid-production ( like Nissan did with the 350z )

yeah they're out of the same projectors ... you can see them still in the headlight(s) in the first pic (on the left - the smaller ones)

Those appear to be halogen......

Why go thru the hassle of retroing only for a halogen? Not all halogen projectors perform good with HID. There are a few exceptions like the Valeos and MDXs amon a few others.
