Default mpx halo projector light output is TERRIBLE!

hey guys, not dogging mpx for all their stuff, i buy from them frequently and their parts are usually pretty good, but i got a set of the halo proj from them and the stock bulbs in the proj put out wayyyy less light than even my stock headlights (as far as lighting up the road in front of me). I drive to work everyday at four in the morning so this is kind of a problem. lot of dark spots in the light path as well. so i changed over to their "upgraded bulbs" that i was told would be brighter, but they looked darker still because of the slight blue tint in the beam! im assuming the proj housing is just not designed correctly, but im not sure. Anyone have problems with these or not satisfied with the shitty light output?

Also, any way to retro some kind of projector or do something to make these things light up the road like a proj and h1 bulb should?

Do a little more searching. Acura MDX projectors fit in their well and the light output is 100x better. I'm in the process of swapping the projectors right now.

I have the same headlights and thought the same thing, those stock bulbs are horid!

Got that $40 DDM raptor kit and a 9007 relay off ebay and I love them now! Still not the brightest in the world (I got 6k so I have myself to blame for that) but still a HUGE improvement.

I still need to play with the alignment quite a bit (such a PITA), and the projector quality is laughable, but it will hold me over till ND4SPD starts taking orders again

actually just ordered some 4300k 35w hids for the projectors so ill let you guys know how it turns out. also gonna try to utilize the plug from the stock headlight harness that is not being used for the hids to make the brights function. anyone experimented with this?

I'm pretty sure by using the other 9007 connector that is not used in the relay, you can get your high beams working. I'll figure it out after SEMA and post how I did it.

aww stealin all the credit huh ^^^
just messin with ya bro, ill be tryin the same thing. im sure we can get somethin going.

and about the 55w hids, i would really be worried about the heat that they would concentrate on the projectors. not sayin they wont work, but i bet it would be pushin the heat thresh hold on those lights.

yes the MPX halos suck with non HID bulbs.

Get some HIDs in there and they work much much better. still not great but atleast you can see while driving. Pretty much makes your highbeams useless.

Ran some 6k bulbs in mine for awhile and never noticed any issues with heat from them.

In the end though, I swapped back to stock headlights with shorty eyelids for safety issues. Just had a baby and I drive to work in the morning and night when it is dark so wanted plenty of light output. Went with better bulbs in the stock housings for better light put. Sold the HIDs to a guy overseas and still have the MPX headlights in the garage incase anyone wants them. Just need the sticky tape rubbed off from the eyelids. PM me if interested.
