Default little help guys

ok so im currently doing a retro to my headlights and im having a little trouble with my LEDs that im doing for some custom light work. to be honest i have no damn clue how to hook the LEDs up...i know my power source is WAY too much for the LEDs being as they are 3.3v nominal and 3.6vmax..i need some help figuring out how to lower the power source so i dont blow the LEDs out first start up.

so im open for any and all information guys

for the retro i am using E-55 projectors with 6000K HIDs and obviously going with the bi-xenons. have the E46 shrouds coming as well..all parts should be here friday. as for the LEDs i am doing a custom LED bar inside the headlight that is going to take place of my running lights and turn signals. but i am second guessing the LED part only becuase if something goes wrong with the LEDs i would have to pull the whole assembly apart again

yuck on the 6000k with oem hid projectors. Why not go with oem bulbs and ballasts and make the best of your hard work?

Back on topic, what type of leds, and where will they be mounted? How many leds? Are you making your own led strip, or buying something like oznium.com sells? The led forum on hidplanet is a great place with lots of info. I cant think of anyone on this board who does custom led work with their own soldering. Crystal does alot of work with leds, but she buyers pre wired stuff from oznium.

reason im not going with OEM bulbs and ballasts is because one i already have PnP HIDs in my car and secondly OEM bulbs and ballasts are WICKED expensive.

You need different LEDs.....ones that can safely run off a 12v source. Not exactly sure what you are doing but if you post pictures we can probably help you better. I've already done an Audi R8 DRL mod....check my thread for details and info on how I did it. I used prewired LEDs since they are much easier to work with. Granted there is still ALOT of soldering to be had...but you could use a flexible LED strip as well and make your life easier.

So....what are you trying to do...where are you mounting them, etc.

Oem bulbs are not that expensive. You can pick up a used set with low hours for about $40 or less. Aftermarket bulbs are hit and miss, and thats what is going to make your output worth all the trouble or not. You should at least go with oem bulbs.

well as stated above i am doing a retro but i want to delete my current turn/running light bulb location and wire leds in a bar inside the bezzel so that way i have one Cool White LED in one end for running lights and an Amber LED in the other side for my turn signals.

Like what I did? Either way you need an LED that's capable of running off 12 volts as a power supply.
