Default LED 3rd brake light?

anyone do LED's in the 3rd brake light yet?

I'm trying to think of a way to do a row of 4 or 5 LED bulbs inside the 3rd brake light (I have a clear one)

anyone have any suggestions on what bulb to use, how to mount them, and how to wire them up?

I had 90 or so small LED's that i built a board for to put in a clear third but never got around to finishing it.

When I do I will post pics.

I got a project on the table, too. I'm using twenty 11,000mcd white LEDs I had around. I plan to use the stock red reflector, hence the white LEDs. I'll post picks when I get it all done.

Just 20

I was planning to put mine in a clear lense...mine are clear and shine red of course. I really plan to slam at least 75 very bright small LED's in there.

I know its overkill, but outrageous is how I like to be Good luck, I wanna see yours when done. I'll post pics of mine too.

Sure. Like I said, the LEDs are 11,000mcd, so 20 of them should be around 220 candlepower. They are around 50 lumens per watt, so the array should be good for around 90 lumens. I figured this was a good balance between complexity and brightness.

I thought about using point-source or water-clear red LEDs, and may another day, but I don't have any handy. The first one is going to be done on perfboard, but I may make future iterations on a PCB. If anyone can hook me up with a full version of EAGLE, let me know

This project stemmed from my original desire to have a high-rate pulser for the 1st 1/2 sec that the 3rd brake light is lit. Motorcycles and commercial vehicles with LED tails have this feature. I have a circuit and PCB artwork ready to go but I'm gonna finish building the array first

Damn. This was back in November?

Sorry to say...no...I still have the LEDs on my breadboard lol. I was running the LEDs though a 2-day burn-in and then I kind of lost interest. I should fire the project back up when I have time.

I never did anything with this either......I decided to take the easy way out.....I've been looking for a right-angle replacement bulb but cant find any.
Anyone have a link for a 921 right-angle red LED??
