What you have is hyper flashers!

The resistance on LED bulbs is less than incandescant (sp?) bulbs so the turn signal circuit thinks that your front bulbs are burnt out and the hyper fast blinking is the result. The fast blinking is supposed to let the driver know a bulb is out.

The same thing happened on my WRX when I put in LED turn signal bulbs. To get the turn signals back to normal blinking speed, you can easily wire in resistors (from Radio Shack) to the turn signal circuit.

Check out this diagram I made/posted on ClubWRX:

JayMZX has a fix for the "fast flashing" bulbs.

give him a PM

I didn't like that they didn't really reflect. They weren't very bright unless
you were at the exact right angle. I took mine out.

Be careful when choosing the resistors. In the example in the link, you use two 10ohm resistors in parallel. This effectively is 5ohms of resistance. At 5ohms, and 12 volts, there is 2.4 amps of current going through the resistor. This is causing the resistors to dissapate 28.8W of power as heat. Unfortunately, the two 10W resistors only have a combined rating of 20W. The only downside is that the resistors will get VERY hot, so don't zip-tie them to the wiring harness or anywhere else, or they may cause a fire or melt your wiring.

In the buy/sell forum, I'm selling some 25W, 6.8ohm resistors. I originally purchased the lot to make and sell the equalizers on the forums, but the demand just isn't that high. I'm selling them for basically $2 each but it's the shipping that costs. 6.8ohms will dissapate about 21W of heat. While these resistors are ceramic, cement filled and self-extinguishing (if they caught fire) they still do get quite warm. I run them on my SRT and they become too hot to touch after the blinker is on for more than 2 mins. I just limit my use of the blinkers. I don't sit at red lights with the blinkers on. Ideally the 50W metal encased resistors would be best, but they can get quite spendy.

If you or anyone is interested in the resistors, PM me. More info is here:

Im not complaining that they blink fast.. Kind of neat that they do but thanks for the nfo on the resistors.

Yea the LEDs are neat. I got the 20-LED ones and they're pretty cool. I'm replacing them with Silverstar turns in a few minutes. The sun washes them out too much and you really can't see them from the side all that well. Considering our side markers don't blink (like 1st gen Neons did) it's pretty much a safety hazard. Bulbs look 'bigger' when lit, so I'm goin back to incandescent.

(not to hijack) but I just installed the SilverStar turns and holy mother of god they are bright!

I'd like to have turns so bright they're like Chevy running lights (like corvettes). I may need to do a wire mod and see what happens..

jaymzx... thanks for the heads-up regarding the resistors. Learn something new everyday. I hope my old WRX out there in used-car-land doesn't have any issues!

I too agree that incandescent bulbs are brighter than the LED ones.
