Installed automatic lights over the weekend
Well, I had a light automation kit on the shelf at the shop so I decided to throw it in the car. It is one from Directed Electronics. Install was a snap. I put the photo eye under the dash in the center defroster vent. That way you can't see it. I think total time to install was about 15 minutes. Now I do alarms and such for living so don't think everyone can do it that quick.
I hooked it into the wiper switch so when the wipers are on, the lights are on. I also hooked it up to my alarm so it will do perimeter lighting. I left the daytime running light function on also. So far it seems to work fine. The only thing so far I don't like is when I hit the wipers just to do a quick clear it triggers the lights for about 30 seconds. I think that will be an easy fix with a latching, timed relay.
