Many reasons. Retrofitting, painting the housings, adding LEDs and such, etc.

Sorta reviving this thread from the dead, sorry.

Just wanted to give anyone wanting to try this some additional pointers.

The stockers off my 04 needed way more than 250F in the oven. I don't think 250 at any length in time would have done it.

I put them in for 15-20 minutes at 300F and started to pry from the top. Top was easiest because that was the side that was closest to the heating coils, and therefore the glue was stickier and easier to work with. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.
