Im just wondering if anyone has used the nokya 80/100w bulbs in their car, how long and if they had any wiring issues. if anyone is using a different bulb with a higher wattage then stock please post the brand, watts, and how long you have been using them..
I can guarantee you you'll have wiring issues if you use those. The harness isn't meant to carry that wattage. It may not happen right away but it happened to my friend Dan's SRT in a matter of four months....wiring melted and the MFS switch died on me while I was driving it...in the middle of a blizzard.
Ya i have had higher watt bulbs in my 99 neon and had to wire in a relay system to keep it from melting the plugs. i guess im just curious as to what others are using. other then HID. I heard a couple people mention the nokya bulbs but not what wattage they are using.
Hmm I just ordered those nokyas with my new headlights... maybe I won't use them if they are going to fry something. Shouldn't it be pretty easy to make relays for them?
Any idea if these will work for an 80w? I am under the impression that they won't do anything, but figured I would ask before I dismissed them completely.
Technically it's not the just the socket that needs to be upgraded, it's the entire harness starting from back where the headlight wiring draws it's initial power from.
dont use the high wattage bulbs, the blue ones i had before where 70 watts and 6 months later no headlights at 1 in the morning....
