Default HID's Installed Wiring Scenario

Hey there, just installed a set of h4 HID's in my srt4. These are high/low beam bulbs. Now when i click on my high beams, they only stay on high beam while i HOLD the switch back, then when i release, they go back to low beams. I think this is b/c the factory bulbs use both filaments at the same time for high beam??? Anyone know about this??
I happen to be a wiring genious, not to brag, but if this is tru (I will look into this as soon as i feel like ripping my housings out again) then i guess ill have to wire a relay to shut off low beam power when high beams come on. Let me know what u guys think about this.
