try pulling out fuse #5 on the side panel. i accidentally clicked my hi beamwith a stock bulb and the hid still wired in and the fuse blew. you get lows and fogs but no hi's and drls. with the hids you won't need the hi's anymore at least with mine i never did once i got the hid kit.
it's a RETROFIT ...
not poor halogen hid kit.
plus, we paid for a bi-xenon projector (Acura TL), cause we wanted the quality and highbeam modes.
I need to provide similar resistance on the circuit as a headlight would.
Will let you guys know when I get things resolved. I'd love to get another connector for the passenger side so I don't have to use my hacked up bulb. Anyone know where I can find one?

So bad, snif snif.

Hey dude, i'm in search of info on hidplanet forums.
Maybe someone already found the answer to our problem.

I've soldered up my wiring harness and I think everything is okay but I'm having problems getting everything to work while retaining the normal function of my DRL's.
I did the continuity/voltage tests and determined that my car is positive switched. I triggered my relay off the stock headlight connectors low beam terminal. My HID's worked fine but I had no DRL's.
In my car, the DRL's are the foglights. The DRL's are on whenever the ignition is on. It doesn't matter wether the e-brake is on/off or if the car is in gear. The DRL's turn off with the low beams. They can be reactivated with the low beams on using the stock foglamp switch, but turn off automatically when the high beams are turned on.
Basically almost all of the lights are hooked up through 2 DRL relays, then go through the stock multifunction headlamp switch. Looking over factory wiring schematics, it seems that the high beam circuit is the simplest and least affected by the DRL relays.
Right now, I have my wiring harness relay being triggered off of the high beam terminal at the driver side headlamp. The hid's function normally but of course i have to use the high beam setting. The only way I could get the DRL's to work normally was to put a stock 9007 halogen bulb in the passenger side connector. I've cut off the high beam pin inside the bulb so that it doesn't light up with the projector's. What is strange to me is without that bulb plugged in, I have no DRL's. Either way the HID's seem to be unaffected.
If anyone could offer some insight it would be greatly appreciated. This is a great site with lots of helpful info, I've spent alot of time here learning and have been wanting to do a retro for some time now.
Thanks
I know, we already knew it, but it seems that someone from here had the same problem.
I recently got a HID retro kit and got everything all wired in (using a relay and separate power for the HID's)
Unfortunately I am having some problems, I am in Canada so the fog lights come on when the car starts as Daytime Running Lights (DRL).
Well since the HID's are installed the fogs don't come on when the car starts... The HID's do. Regardless of the headlight switch position.
If the car is off, all the lights function properly (go on and off via the switch)
If I plug in a stock headlight bulb, the fogs come on properly when the car starts and all is good.
I have an adapter which plugs into one of the stock headlight harnesses which is what runs the relay turning on and off the HID's It is only using 2 of the 3 wires for the relay (2 seem to be ground and 1 is power)
I looked in the service manual to see if I could figure out how the DRL's are wired in but it didn't even show the fog light circuit, only the headlights.
Any ideas on how I can fix this issue? It's a real PITA as the HID's come on right when the car has just started and sometimes stalls the car.
Help Please...
I wouldn't mind not having DRL (fogs on for day light) ...
But i don't want the HID to get on when i start the car. If i want to put them on, i want to do it by myself with the toggle switch inside.
I don't really mind about fogs, i just can run a 2nd switch inside my car and put them on by pressing it.
A switch like a switch you have in your house to open the light.

the 2nd switch is very easy to do. i am thinking of doing the same
just use a dummy bulb or something else that will put LOAD on your second connector. it's so fricken easy i don't see why this thread is at 4 pages. you get all the same functionality of stock and don't have to buy another switch or crap.
