I recently got a HID retro kit and got everything all wired in (using a relay and separate power for the HID's)
Unfortunately I am having some problems, I am in Canada so the fog lights come on when the car starts as Daytime Running Lights (DRL).
Well since the HID's are installed the fogs don't come on when the car starts... The HID's do. Regardless of the headlight switch position.
If the car is off, all the lights function properly (go on and off via the switch)
If I plug in a stock headlight bulb, the fogs come on properly when the car starts and all is good.
I have an adapter which plugs into one of the stock headlight harnesses which is what runs the relay turning on and off the HID's It is only using 2 of the 3 wires for the relay (2 seem to be ground and 1 is power)
I looked in the service manual to see if I could figure out how the DRL's are wired in but it didn't even show the fog light circuit, only the headlights.
Any ideas on how I can fix this issue? It's a real PITA as the HID's come on right when the car has just started and sometimes stalls the car.
From what Im understanding it should be a fuse that needs to be removed on Dodge vehicles for the most part. I did some research but im not quite sure which fuse
I have a Canadian car, and i had the same trouble. With the car off everything seems to work good. Turn the car on and the HID's turn on regardless of the headlight switch.
From my memory with the car running they would function normally if i had a 9007 bulb pluged into the stock socket. didn't like that solution.
All i did was run a wire from the relay to a switch that i put in my center console, not what i wanted to do, but thats all i could figure out to do for now.
Would love to find out a way to use the stock headlight switch
as a tech for dodge not too long ago, i seem to remember having a customer who had a canadian dodge who didn't want the DRL's. It was as simple as removing the daytime running lamp relay. that was the only difference between the american and canadian dodge vehicle. i'd say give that a shot. should only take a minute to do also. let me know if that works.
just checked in alldata and it says all canadian dodges have a DRL controller that is part of the instrument cluster, and 2 DRL relays. i left my srt-4 cd manual at work. i will verify that information when i check the factory service manual because alldata every now and again has some incorrect info. I still say take out the DRL relays and make sure you have a fog lamp relay in place and see what happens. should take a few seconds to try.

i don't have pics. i'll see if i can take one and mail it to you if you like. i just broke a stock bolb, soldered some wires on the end to make a connector for my dummy light.

if you wouldn't mind i would love a picture of the bulb and the box.....only if you have time.
I had the same problem, I made my own relay harness last winter. I tried multiple ways to make everything work like stock, the only solution I found was to trigger the hid's on with the high beams, it takes the factory DRL relay/controller out of the equation. It won't work unless you plug in a stock bulb as a dummy, i snapped off the high beam pin so the bulb wouldn't turn on.
It's like the dummy bulb acts as a resistor or something. It wouldn't work on low beams though. this should work for anyone using a single low beam retro.

hey that sounds like a good idea. to bad in this case i have bi-xenon's, so i guess i can't use that.
