Default HID Problem!! Hak where are you?

I've had my HIDs for a while now (with the relay) and for some odd reason the driver headlight won't come on sometimes. There are times where it would turn on but there are times where it wouldn't turn on. I tried turning them off and on and I can see the bulb kind of blink very fast but never turn on. This past weekend I switched the passenger side with the driver side and the driver side worked on the passenger side but the passenger side didn't work on the driver side. Can this mean that the ballast on the driver side is not working properly? I installed my stock lights for the time being since I got pulled over once for that same reason. Hak if you can chime in that would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know who Hank is but I'll help you

If you swapped the ballast from one side to the other, and the problem followed, its the ballast.

My bad, misspelled. LOL

But wouldn't switching the headlights be the same as switching the ballast?

I currently have this problem with my HID's. I too have a wiring harness but my passenger light at time refuses to come on...it does however come on after a couple times switching on/off...but I dont know why it does this either..at first I thought it was because I dont have a wiring harness, well I bought and installed that, yet my passenger light still at times struggles to come on before it eventually does...I think its a bad ballast but i dunno

Bad ballasts. Simple as that.

You have to swap ballasts from one side to the other. NOT the Bulbs.

What kits are you guys running?

I think you have a problem with the ignitors.

That's the same thing I'm going through with my driver side and I also thought it was because I need it a relay, once I got it it kept happening but now its to the point where I may have to be turning them on and off for a while once I was at for 1:30 hours, no joke, and it finally came on. I switched the headlights and the one that worked now didn't and the one that didn't now did. My only guess was that it has to be the driver side ballast that's damaged or something.

I know I'm running eBay shit so I can't say that wasn't coming, but I also have warrenty on it so I can't complain. I guess I'll switch the ballast and see if it still happens and if it does I'll send an email to the guy who sold it to me.

to diagnose:

switch bulbs on the good ballast. If the problem happens when you switch the bulb, the you have a bad bulb.

Switch the ballast on the good bulb/side. If the problem happens when you switch ballasts, its your ballast.

9 times out of 10 its a bad ballast or signs of a bad ballast soon to be toast. It happens with the aftermarket kits because of cheap internals.

Till then ,
