If by swapping ballasts you mean all you did was swap one for the other side and visa versa, then I'm talking about actually removing the ballasts and bulbs and firing each set off the battery directly. If you did that and they still messed up then one of your ballasts is going out.

As for the harness, you can get in touch with him via the email address that is on the banner

I don't know his prices. He is one of the admins off hidplanet and is a good friend of mine.

Default buying hid lights for srt-4

I've been wanting to buy hid's for my srt-4 but i've been holding off because of my lack of knowledge. Where in your opinion is the best place to by them and is retro fit the best way to go?

Clearly retro is the way to go for the safest and best HID performance in your car.

What does DOT & ECE Mean? What's the difference?

I see some people on HIDplanet with things like TL+ZKW. It that a hybrid projector?

TL/ZKW is what I have. It's the Acura TL projector with a different lens on it that is 100% clear as opposed to the stock TL lens that is fresnel (has concentric rings in the glas, almost like ripples).

DOT and ECE are beam types. DOT has a more abrupt and short "step" while a ECE beam has a rather large "step" in the cutoff.

Aww... so where does the clear lense come from? I've seen a few TL projectors on ebay which show pictures anyway of them with a clear lense.

Why the difference in DOT & ECE? Is one the popular method in one country & vice versa or is it more about the company who produces them & what they prefer?

Technically they aren't "ECE". The TL is not offered in Europe. They are what I refer to as slope style. They don't perform as good as the DOT style. I think the slope style was more so in the first few of the latest gen TL and they are being phased out by the DOT style as its more common to come across now. Stanley makes the "TL" projector however its not only used on just the TL. It was probably a revision change on their end for better performance.

You have to look close on the lens in order to see the fresnel rings. I doubt ebay people take pics close enough that you would think they are clear. Chances are unless they state they have added a ZKW lens, they will just have the stock fresnel lens. There is a huge difference between the two.

The first link is what appears to be true ZKW lens but I don't know how much I'd rely on egay to be accurate with quality people. I've had bad luck with egay.

As for which ZKW projector, the second link you posted is a ZKW made projector however its not the right one and yes that one has fresnel rings. The ZKW projector needed for the TL comes off a 2000-2004 BMW 300ix. It's very rare to run across them. You'd have better luck off buying them from hidplanets forum members than using egay IMHO.

^^^ Agree'd, HIDplanet has wasted about half my week so far. There's soooo much info over there. I think I have more questions than answers as a result. Regardless thanks for sharing your wisdom.
