Default HID bulbs.....burnt?

This question is pretty much directed at Hak, but if anyone else knows, please chime in......

I have a kit that is not for my car, so, I can't power it up. Inside the bulb looks like there is dirt or spots in the capsule, what the hell is it?

Are they burnt out? How would I be able to tell if they are burnt?

The "dirt" or "spots" your refering to aren't the salts your talking about are they?

What is going on when you try and power them up? Is the ballast making noise at all? It should hum a little. you will know when a ballast is going out heh. It could be your ballast and not your bulb. Tell me more....

This is the salts I'm refering to. This might be what your talking about as dirt or spots. Older used bulbs will develop spots or what appears to look like dirt particles within the salts. This is normal "wear and tear" on the bulbs and is just a saign that they are indeed used to some degree in their lifespan. The new bulb is on the left and the used or old buld is on the right. Notice how the new bulb has now spots or flaws. Now notice the "dirt" looking "spots" within the used older bulb on the right. This is absolutely normal.
