Lightbulb good, affordable replacement bulbs-for my gal

hey all, i had a question on which bulb replacements i should get my gal for her 01 civic. i have the silverstars in my srt and like them, but she thinks they're too expensive. but her lights suck ass, dangerous amounts, can barely see sometimes. so my question to everyone is...

what type of 9003/H3 replacement bulbs are good for illumination, price, and quality? i was looking into ge nighthawks, phillips vision plus, and nokya, which are the bigger brands. if anyone else can suggest other good, affordable bulbs that aren't ghetto or ricey, please do. all help is appreciated. thanks to all in advance.

I actually have nokya's in my srt and like them a lot. I have had them for about a year now and they are a lot brighter then stock. Never had any problems with them, my brother had some in his integra for about 3 years aswell and never any problems. Got them for $15 at wal-mart.

Try Sylvania Cool Blue, they're cheaper and are a good quality upgrade. You can get them at any store that sells bulbs. Not as bright as Silverstars but fairly close.

I've got Hella Optilux bulbs in stock. Let me know exactly what you need and I'll give you a price. Info on the Civic might be scarce on the SRT forums.

hey pal, she wants some good quality/light output bulbs that won't fry the wires or anything like that. no HIDs needed, or any type of racer blue, or ghetto lights. just some nice, quality, bright white bulbs comparable maybe to the silverstars or something of that level. i have been looking around, and not had much luck. the bulb size is a 9003 or an H3. they have the same base. let me know what you got. thanks. and if anybody else has any suggestions, i'm still open to them. peace.

I suspect that most people consider Hella a quality piece. I've never heard "Hella" and "Ghetto" used in the same sentence....so that's a good sign.

Hella "Xtreme XP" H3 12v 55w bulb set, Hella PN# H71070191 $20.00 a set, plus $5.00 S/H. Pay $25.00, by Paypal to Support@4Headlights.com and reference the Hella PN above.

^^ are good bulbs. They have similar characterisitics to the Silverstars, but at a much cheaper price. Silverstars are wayyy overpriced for what you get in return.

This is what they look like and if you've seen a silverstar, you will notice the coating is very much the same.

That's the XP series...standard rating (55W) there's also the XB series which are blue white and higher wattage. I don't think the bulbs actually produce a purple light.

The reason they look more purple in that pic is because of the packageing. All bulb packages that have that little chrome background look make the bulbs appear to be more colored than they really are. Thats part of the whole marketing gimick companies use. You are basically seeing double what the normal color of the bulb really is because your seeing the bulb + its colored reflection behind it. Think of a tinted window. Say you have 4 pieces all the same 30%. you hold one up, its not that dark. You hold another one right behind it and its darker than what it really is...30% tint. These don't have a purple output, they are white. A friend of mine uses these in his accord and they lok nice for a halogen bulb and perform good too, for a colored halogen bulb.
