Default The fog light relay by-pass diagram

Posted here for you all to do on your own. I know there are several different ways people do this mod but this is the safest route to take when you want your fog lights to come on with the parking lights. This by-passes the stock switch and stock vehicle wiring.

I recommend Bosch or AAMP relays. The one pictured above is the Bosch relay. They can be found at many automotive shops.

Some solder or a butt connector or two is not going to kill you ...... but different strokes for different folks.

You design me a plug capable of having a pigtail come out of it and still be 100% useful for the parking lamp and I'll use it ok.

Until then, your welcome for the info.

After doing this, if i'm reading this correct...you will not have control over the fog lights. The fogs will turn on at the same time as the parking lights.
Correct me if i'm reading it wrong or did i read right?

thanks,
-J

Correct. The point is to "by-pass" the stock MFS and basically isolate the fogs all by themselves. You don't have to connect input from the parking lights if you want full control of the fogs at all times. You could always use the ignition or ACC source from the main harness to get full control of the fogs via a seprate inline switch. But for most people, the main concern was to have fog lights on while your parking lights are on. This route will do just that.

good write up and simple too.

I'm curious though...to see if i can follow the "silver dragon" how to as far as only doing the multi function switch part (INPUT} and combine it with the rest of your diagram. I think it could work. What do u think mr. Hak?

Dude, that's wiring 101 class. You should always isolate your "new" circuit with a relay or diode. Speaking of diodes, why not just put one inline right off the parking light wire (I think black/yellow 12v) to the fog light outputs??? You could do this right at the switch that way there's less chance of water problems and such.
