Default Easy foglight mod (for HID owners)

ok, i've been trying to find an easier way to run my fogs by themselves w/o having to add another switch, or dremeling out my stalk. i've found one............

since i have HIDs, that means i don't have highbeams. so, i disconnected my ballast lead from my low beam, and connected it to my highbeam. upgraded my highbeam fuse to a 20a. now when i turn my headlights, and fogs on, there's no lowbeam. so, only my ambers and fogs are on. until i switch to highbeam then i can run with my regular beam.

the only drawback is that i can't use my headlights and fogs at the same time

Interesting way but why not just tap in the corner light? This is for all SRT owners.

Found on page 2 of the "Fog light mod warning read this" thread.....

You will need a relay, fuse and atleast 12AWG gauge wiring for it to be safe. You simply cut the fog light positive (+) wires at the fog light. Give yourself enough wire to work from at the actual foglight itself when you cut the wire in two. Use a cap or butt connector on the end that goes away from the actual fog light since you don't want water or anything possibly corroding the cut bare wire. You won't be using that portion of the wire anymore, but rather you will be using the (+) side that is still connected to the fog light. Use a nice quality relay. Here is how to wire it up...

Pins on relay you will use:
85-goes to your positive wire that is connected on the corner bumper parking light or you could use the wire that stays postitive on the parking light, though i don't suggest that.

86-chassis ground. just scrap back some metal somewhere within 12" of the relay and make your ground there. Never a good idea to use an exisitng ground when doing electronics.

87-will go back to the fog light. Connect this to the (+) wire that is still connected directly to the fog light.

30-goes straight to your battery for powering the foglight. You will need to use a fuse inline on this wire!!! Be sure to put the same size fuse that is on our original fog light fuse (not sure what size it is 25A, 30A, etc).
