Default dome light problems

I had a burnt out dome light bulb for a while so I decided to get the LED dome light with the HVAC/gauge LEDS. Well when I put the LED in place it is already turned on. It doesn't matter if it's in the ON position or if the doors are open/closed, or even if the keys are in the ignition. I got a regular bulb just to make sure the LED wasn't the problem and the same thing occured. So basically there is a constant current running through it and no way of turning it off.

Any help?
Thanks, Dave

if you're saying it doesn't matter if the dimmer/dome switch on the stalk is on or off and the bulb is staying on, I'd say you have a problem with the multi-function. Have you checked it recently for burn marks?

other possiblilty is that one of the door switches has failed and shorted out.
good luck hunting it down... electrical gremlins are just plain EVIL.

Our cars are crap.

There is constantly a current in the dome light. Its so minimal that a filament bulb will create enough resistance to make it not light up.. The led requires alot less and is able to make use to that little amount of current.
