Digital Ballasts????

I was hoping someone would explain these and there benfits over standard ballasts??

These Digital ballasts are half the size of regular ones.

My boy wants them for his car but he swears they are better. I'm just curious.

They aren't "better" in terms of performance. They power up slower than previous (magnetic) ballast designs because they don't give the capsule 100%power upon start-up. Not the best thing unless you feel like waiting longer until your headlights are warmed up enough to drive and see. They claim powering up a capsule slower prolongs its lifespan. But let me tell you, I've never had a bulb blow out before I've had a ballasts lifespan run out. so its really nonsense marketing IMHO.

The only advantage (if size is of importance) is that they are smaller.

In the end, both standard magnetic and digital ballasts put out the same 35w.

Possible since they don't rely on a electro magnet coil.....
