First and foremost, I wanted to thank Devin for such wonderful customer service, fast shipping, and great product. It was supposed to be a stocking stuffer for my husband, but I couldn't wait anymore. Plus, it's raining here in Cali and he needs better lights! I helped him install it and decided to do a little descriptive walk through for those who aren't familiar with the lighting. Devin is telling the truth about the plug and play feature of this HID conversion. It's easy, simple, and fast. Even a little girl like me can do it. These directions may seem long but I'm trying to give the SRT4 community an in-depth install.
Please note it's raining here in So Cal so we'll take more photos hopefully tomorrow night and show you where we connected the ballast boxes.
Check your service manual index in the back for "replacing light bulbs."
Unscrew the two long screws attaching the headlight to the body frame of the car.
Unscrew the bolt attaching the front bumper to the body frame of the car (please note diagrams are in your service manual).
Pull out your headlight straight toward you until the small metal brackets come out.
Now pull the bumper, near where screw from step 3 was located, toward you.
This is the tricky part, maneuver headlight closest to the Dodge symbol on your car and pull it out of the bumper. Then the rest should follow with a little force.
Remove your signal amber bulb by turning it about 1/4 of the way.
There is a plastic black ring around your headlight bulb. Twist it and it should unclick.
Detach the headlight bulb from the headlight by turning/pulling it out.
Set down headlight housing and black plastic ring.
Now pull the headlight bulb out from wire harness and set down.
Configure Xtec HID system (very self explanatory). Make sure to read the Xtec directions on where to mount the boxes.
Make sure and test bulbs first before opening plastic casing. Hold bulb away from your eyes.
Take the two male wires and connect to the female harness where you removed your stock bulb. Now, the black wire goes into the center socket. The red wire goes into the right socket (that is your right when you face your headlights). *Please note it is that exact configuration for both sides of headlights.
Have someone turn on your headlights. Within seconds a bright plasma white bluish light should appear, along with a smile on your face.
Turn off signal light.
Remove the HID bulb/wire and test the second bulb.
After testing is done take one HID bulb and take it out of the plastic case.
Place black plastic ring around the HID bulb.
Grab headlight housing from ground and attach the HID bulb. Make sure you put it in correctly so it somewhat locks/attaches.
Take the plastic ring and clip the light into the base. Please see your other stock light for reference.
Connect the HID bulb/wire to the wire harness… remember black wire goes into the center socket and the red wire goes into the right socket (step 14). OPTIONAL: place electrical tape around each prong where the male and female connect at the harness.
Screw amber signal bulb back in and place back headlight housing.
Repeat steps starting with step 1 for other side.
Enjoy! I bought these for my husband who loves driving at night and passing through the canyons. It’s a great safety precaution. You wouldn’t believe how much more aware you are of your surroundings. It was raining last night and the lights were reflecting off the water and onto houses. The side dividers light up as well as the road caution signs.
It is a complete HID kit 2 Bulbs 2 Ballast and all the plug and play wiring, pretty neat product have a look at the group buy, currently we are sold out of the 9007's as you guys bought them all on me, I should have more at the end of this week or early next week I will keep everyone posted.
So... x_srt4_x ......Where did you put the ballast so it was not to close to the heat of the motor? I don't see a lot of options.
Yes, the engine bay does not leave too much room to be creative but my husband and I found two good spots.
When facing the car there is a silver metal piece near where the stock airbox would be. We attached it to that with zip ties and industrial double stick tape.
On the other side we put it near the fluid wash opening in the crevice along the fender.
Hard to explain. Rod is asleep right now. We've been getting ready for finals so too tired and no time for photos. We'll get them up soon.
