Hey i was just thinking , about getting the CLK tails for my Black Srt-4. I was thiking the Chrome part would kind of stand out too much on black though. I was wondering if anyone has ever taken them apart before? I was thinking of taking them apart and getting some black paint , or niteshades and painting a real light coat on the chrome section kind of making it like a black-chrome color. do u guys think it would look good??
I think its a good idea, but I would contact the vendor or manufacture before taking them apart to see what kind of epoxy or sealant the tails use before baking them and taking them apart. Good luck.
Another few tips, do NOT put these in the oven. Do NOT heat the LENS. Heat ONLY the housing. The lens will turn into putty if you put heat on it. been there done that too

HA ur tellin me, i did that with a set of corner lenses on my last car (01 cavalier z24) it was like peeling a bananna, the lens came off easy, but it was all screwed up, it looked like a wet noodle when it was all the way off.
Hak, when im heating the tails with a heat gun should i be focusing the heat on the rear section of the tails???? if i do this to the led's should i stay away from the board in the back of it will the heat mes up the electronics? i think im leaning towards geting the black led's and painting the reverse light black. its either that or the clks with the chrome part inside the tails painted black, or maby just nightshading the clear part on the tails. what dou think? My rear is de-badged, and i have an SXT wing on it. I also have a clear 3rd brake light painted flat black with the ptp black board led, but its not installed. im just sooo iconfused haha
