Default check it out: MUST HAVE for SRT's

Hey guys

Just finished installing my new rear-view mirror.

This thing is great, especially for those of us who have changed up our gauges to blue.

The mirror has a blue digital readout for temperature and compass...

It also has a neat little feature that shows you the UV index outside (tells you how long til you get sunburnt via a little bar) the sensor for this is also in a clever place; they incorporate it into a bolt that you put in your licence plate (see picture below).

Anyway.. check out these pics (sorry for crappy quality, took them with my cell phone) and let me know what you guys think..

(here's a link to more information about the unit)

By the way... another cool feature is the fact that this mirror is AUTO-dimming... so if someone blasts you with headlights at night, it actually dims to a blue tint... looks AWESOME

Great mirror! I have a Gentex with auto-dimming, compass, and LED map lights. I don't have the outside temperature, but I only paid $35 from ebay.
Bacardi151 has one similar to yours.

I'll let Ironside describe what's involved with the temp sensor wiring, but mine was plug n' play with the exception of running a small jumper wire to ground out the feature that un-dims the mirror when the car is put in reverse.

This isn't the best picture. I'll take more tomorrow.

hehe... well... the UV sensor wiring goes behind the licence plate and into the front grill so you cant see it. I have the temperature sensor mounted inside the front bumper (sort of near the cold air intake filter... only you have to position it so hot air doesn't blow down onto it).

From there the two wires come up past the battery (u can tuck them all nice like) and then down through the firewall.

Then you have to go up through the left side of the dash into the A-pillar and into the headliner running across to the actual mirror. Once everything is wired in there, you send a couple more wires back through the headliner, down the A-pillar and into the fusebox.

All thats left is to splice into some switched, fused ignition wires and then ground another wire and you're SET!

The instructions the unit comes with are pretty good... if anyone actually does this I can let them know about which wires to splice into (it's really much easier than it sounds)

nice idea we have done on a few local cars before is to run the temp sensor tapped into the cold side pipe to monitor your intake temps. ill take some pix of how we did mine up when i clean the thing.

That's actually a really cool idea... obviously for a performance minded SRT owner...

personally.. i just did mine for novelty.. the temp, compass, UV sensor, the GPS system.. i'm making my car cool for travelling.

Plus, i didn't like the idea that my 2002 Neon R/t had it built into the mirror and yet, my SRT4 which cost TWICE AS MUCH.. didn't.

I think my next step is cruise control

Hey Tom are those lights powered by two different colored LEDs (orange and green) like found on the Vette? The pic reminds me of it.

Cruise control would be nice, but not the PTB that would come along with it on my car haha

Yes. There are like 12 LED's on each side, half are green and half are orange.
