Default Broken light?

My head light went out last week. I can't figure out the problem. I had HID's on it and I'm sure the ballast and the bulb still work fine because I put a regular stock halogen bulb into my harness and it won't light up. So that should cancel out any fuse problem because the other headlight lights up, right? The 40amp fuse in the fuse box seems to be in good condition. The harness seems to be in good condition also. I can't think of anything else on why this light isn't working...can anybody help me out?
