Still looks sweet, though I got to ask, isnt this stuff more flimbys (not as stiff) than the acrillic? Hopefully I will be doing the same in a couple of days.

Correct, it doesn't have the amount of rigidity that acrylic does, but for this purpose it doesn't need a lot of strengh.

Ehhh...you're probably right. I'm mean...you still have to give it to it a bit to break it. I tore a reflector out and came to that conclusion. Plus...I'm only using .060" thick styrene because I was being cheap when purchasing it. I noticed the .080" was almost double the price.

Anxious to see the results of a form with a circular stand so the styrene doesn't get sucked into voids and tear. Would have done it earlier, but I've been at Apple and AT&T all afternoon setting up my 3G S (came with a bad SIM ).

I'll make that circular stand soon and be sure to post some updated results.

That's the bummer thing about styrene: it ain't cheap. I got lucky and stumbled across a motherload while I was in school and I snatched it up for close to nothing. I still have about five or six 4'x4' sheets left FTW!

won't that effect the airflow of the table?

That looks pretty sick, are you going to cut out the vents on the sides?

Ditto ^^^ What size? I was thinking about 24"x18" (outside dimensions) so it'll sit suspended on the tabs in the oven that hold the racks.

Then I was thinking that may be overkill & a waste of material. Now that I ponder it some more, the extra material might be good to allow more streatching & a better draw.

You guys almost had it...my frame is 16x22".

As for cutting out the vents...BlueMenance wants a hole cut out for the actual gatling guns to fit through. I was more playing around with the last set of pictures to see how it would come out. It did blend the stock reflector and gatling guns together pretty good though. And I'd imagine if I had it heating up for a 30-45 more seconds...it would have formed to even more detail.

Vac forming is a fine art, for sure. Here's a trick that has helped me in the past; Keep a heat gun on hand and wear some leather gloves when forming. If, for some reason you aren't getting the amount of draw that you'd like, then apply heat to the area that you'd like to draw deeper and use the power of the vacuum and your hand to force the material to do what you want. Styrene cools VERY quickly especially when it gets that thin. When you ask it to draw that deeply you need either move up to a thicker sheet, or use my prescribed method above to bend it to your will

How far is your oven from the vac table? The closer that your table is to the oven the better
