Default black reflector vs stock chrome reflector

we all know that blacked out housing looks a hell of alot better. but for those of us that has retros i've done a pair with chrome, and black. what i've noticed is the light output is much better w/ chrome.
reason behind this is:
- the main reflector shines the light forward
- then bounces off the the lower reflector
- then out to the street.
with the lower reflector blacked out, like most depots, there no where for that beam to reflect. which would create a poor light output.

anyone agree or disagree?

if it's a retro, it shouldn't matter as you should be using the projector housing & bowl for all your beam geometry.
