Well I couldnt find anywhere that makes black housing fog lights so I took it upon myself to break the ice and make my own. I just wanted to do this so I have something to match with my black housing headlights. If anyone is interestde I can post pics of them. I dont haave any pics of them on th car yet just off the car. And if there is enough interest I can write up a how to.
Ok here are some pics. Again I dont have any pics of them on the car. I have a couple side by side pics of a black housing one and a stock one with and without the front lense. The lense covers are kinda dirty.
I have thought about that alot before doing this. I used super gloss black paint as you can see in the pic it reflects pretty good also I am going to use the PTP high intensity foglights that they sell. All in all I believe they will be just as bright as stock if not brighter. Just because it is gloss black doesnt mean in is going to lose 100% of its reflection. Look at all the black housing headlights they are pretty much the same idea and everyone loves them. So ya I am pretty confident.
They will not be any brighter. I'm sure the performance is not going to be worth much, if anything. I think you just ruined those. Paint is not going to hold with a high wattage halogen bulb baking it constantly.
Black housing headlights are not painted black on the reflector. They are just cosmetic pieces that have nothing to do with the performance of the headlight that are painted black.
Would Definitely Be Interested In Seeing An Output Series Of Pics When You Can Get Them. Even If It Doesnt Work Out, It Looks Pretty Hot. You Can Always Go The Led Route For Those Bulbs And Use Them Just For Show.
As you can see, the reflector is left chrome to be useful. Just because gloss black is shiny, it will never have the reflective properties of a chrome-type finish.
Stock on the left and my painted ones on the right
honestly man you should of just got some rockblocker film and tinted them. The output would still deminish but I bet it would still be useful or more useful than painting your stock reflector LOL.

So you are saying the lights will be really dim like they just wont have much projection and you are saying that the paint will run/bubble due to the heat?
