Ok, first off, I DID A SEARCH, just in case the search police read this. It wouldnt let me search for HID... My question is. Which HID is the best kit for the best price. I like the Xtec 6000k, but I dont know if its shitty or not. I want to make sure that if Im spending my mondey, that I get a good kit. Thanks.

If your dead set on getting HID into your halogen headlights w/o the proper way of doing it (retro HID projectors), then I would just buy all oem equipment, not off brand or kit crap because that shit is junk and will fail alot sooner than any oem equipment will. You can easily make a oem D2S work with your housings. All you have to do is use JB Qwik on the plastic and it will hold the D2S or D2R in place. Replacement bulbs and ballast for oem are a hell of a lot cheaper than some cheap asian knock-off companys equipment. I'll go ahead and warn you though, our housings react like crap on HID due to the focal point being wayyy off on HID for it to even do anything worth it. Plus our housings give off tons of glare due to the huge exposed area that the bulb can be seen in. This large area is what will blind the hell out of everyone else on the road.
You want the right way of doing HID and the true performance of HID? go retro.
You want the look of HID with worse or semi-equal quality of your halogen bulbs? Go with a kit.
well said haknslash. Do a search for retrofit projectors. Kadishack did a GREAT retrofit with one of his buddies. It looks sick! But it cost around $1000. If you want the quality, it's worth it. And OEM HIDs are the way to go. You can find that stuff on Ebay...there are always a lot of ballasts and bulbs...

My retros only run me tops $400 for projectors, bulbs, ballasts, everything and all oem. Anyone that pays over $250 for a "kit" is crazy. Anyone paying over $500 for a retro (depending on the projectors) is borderline crazy. Most retro stuff can be had for under $300 if you shop in the right places. My first retro (MB ECE E55's, Philips D2S 4100k, hella Gen 3 ballasts) only costed me $375 for everything.
i say go with a nice cheap kit off of ebay. i got mine for $330. its a xenon kit. dont listen to these guys as they dont know what their talking about. are hids fully optimized in out housings? no. r they of a greater quality than ur stock halogens? so much greater you wont believe that all cars dont come with these lights standard. one downsid ethough is if u dont want to pay the extra cash u will lose ur high beams. fine for me im only in the city. if ur in the country u might have problems. the hids r brighter than stock high beams though but dont shine as far out cuz of not having a high beam.
go look on ebay im sure they got kits for like 250. u wont be disappointed. ive had them in my car for over a year now. ive had zero problems. i wish people wouldnt make comments saying hids arent any better than stock lights without actually getting them and trying them or even gettign behind the wheel of a car with them. dont go with oem stuff theyre usually only 4300k. mine r 8000k. best lighting is seen at 6000k.
Check out the Xtec kits...the guys name I delt with is Devin. He's on the Buy/sell forum all the time. I bought his 6000k HID kit and it is awesome. Even though I've yet to do the retro configuration (lacking funds for lighting) I still think getting your HIDs is worth it. Plus I have a 5-year warranty from Devin's company. The light out put is awesome. I've never been in a car with a projector, so as of right now I don't know the difference. Best of luck to you.

Man, I have more knowledge of HID here then probably anyone on here. I know what I'm talking about. You are just misinformed. The higher kelvin temps are nothing more than color and a LOSS in light output. Don't believe me? I'd be more than happy to show you all the info to prove you wrong.
Putting HID into our housing changes whaqt the HID bulb was designed around. Its focal point and return wire are very often off from these kits which in turn gives poor quality. Our housing have HUGE open area in which plenty of glare escapes. I have had HID in my housings and took them out becasue the glare was so fucking bad as was the output on the ground. Plenty of hotspots and no focused area of lighting. Don't act like you know what your talking about because you sound like a ricer saying colored bulbs are better when in reality oem 4100k delivers the BEST possible output period.
Learn what you are talking about before trying to come and say everyone else doesn't know jackshit because I have years upon years of knowledge with HID.

the reason mine cost so much was because of the labor and the extra headlights i had to purchase so i could drive the car while the project was going on. i believe the final breakdown was 300 for the capsules/ballasts (oem audi a4 plus 4100k philips capsules). 200 for the extra headlamps. 300 for the projectors ( valeo ece single beam) 200 for the labor and 50 for the custom wire harness.
i am glad someone has decided to make some more projectors for the srt although i am a bit upset i am no longer the only srt with projectors.
