Ya im picking up a set as well, the FJ cruiser guys seem to like the kit, although, Im going to go with 55 watt bulbs/ballasts for a little more oomph..
I might pick up a set of the blacked out ebay headlights to mount them in since it seems like such a PITA to tape off the marker lights on the stock lights.
holy crap, check out this thread i found, this is on a FJ cruiser forum, these things have GOT to be 10 gazillion times better than Stock headlights, the install is a friggin piece of cake too!
LOL, I really want an FJ for my next winter car. This would be an awesome way to avoid having to do a "proper" retro on it
Exactly, this seems like a nice easy and cheap way to upgrade the stock lights, I really dont have the time or the money to do a "proper" retro, so this seems like the best option for me. Come to think of it, it looks like taping off the marker light reflector wont be such a pain to do,. I would black out everything else.
So i figure around $125 for the kit, and another $100 maybe for 55watt bulbs and ballasts.
Its a cool concept, but from the last pics posted you can tell the beam is not wide. The projector is too small, which means the bowl is small and the beam is going to be too narrow. Cool concept but I wouldnt spend my money on that. Also why do they stick those stupid angel eyes in everything? It was cool on beamers about 5 years ago, but they are too played out.
this is a great idea... going to wait until next week to buy them. and just paint the whole inside of my headlight flat black, and the halo ring red
It can switch the Hi and Low light by the electromagnetic drive WTF?
can i use my single beam ballast on my car now with these?
Yes you can use your existing ballasts. the high/low works off a solenoid and a shield that flips up and down.
I think Flat black might be tooo flat and can get chalky, Im going to go with satin black krylon fusion, it has the right look and really hangs on and grabs, just wipe down the chrome with alcohol or enamel reducer, etc, and shoot.
