Default Anyone remember "rainbow ions?" sexysrtchick?

I ran these in my 1988 f250 like in 1997-1998. Ive tried to find a source for them at swapmeets, online, even jcwhitney says they sell them, but ive failed to find them. I tried to get some 9004 for another vehicle and they just ended up being a set of blue tinted ones. The bulb themselves had a blue colored O ring at the bottom and were 100x80 wattage. You cant see the road that great with them but they do look pretty neat as they change color as you look at them from different angles, especially with older diffuser type headlight lenses. sexysrt you said you know lights well, got any ideas?

I havent found a link, but apparently they can be bought through a Mazda dealer. Everything I found relating to them was around 1998, when you had them installed. Theres iridium rainbow bulbs but those are all H applications and designed for motorcycles, but those are the closest you'd get to what your talking about. Ion bulbs by nature are either yellow or blue. My miata has Projector/Multi-Reflector headlamps, and they have that effect, but thats because their projectors. My browser froze when I had the link to the ones for the bike, but I'll find it again.

They are illegal in canada, and in many states because they are deemed to be distracting from what I've come up with. The bulbs I found were exactly what you described: 100x80wattage.

Yeah thats back when the H-style was popular, I know for a fact their available through mazda dealers, the MX-3 had them and they were very popular.

But I can't seem to find any 9007s. What were the headlamps on the 88? Must've been an H series

it was a 9004, i had them in a mustang gt then put the same ones in my f250 truck as well. i remember getting them at a "custom images" in california for pretty cheap because i had a gift certificate and didnt want shoulder pads or a shift knob. cops never harassed me for light colors, the law states only white and yellow lights can point forward and so many people have blue lights out here. they only seem to get cops' attention then wait for you to do something else wrong. i've outgrown the make-my-car into-a-rolling-rave but if i can find a set for a deal id still get some

anyway thanks for the try at it, i see the word iridium pop up twice in both links, ill try that word in a search right now as well
