Just was wondering if anybody has actually had success in making our gauges red. I know about the scraping the green paint trick off the backs of gauges......did that on my last car (will never do it again!). Others have said it turns out red with kits etc., just not as bright as they would like..... I think by now there should be a bulb bright enough to override the green paint on the backs of gauges. Any pictures of people having red stock gauges w/o scraping would be appreciated.

I don't remember who was selling them...but one of the venders was making custom cluster in just about any color or graphis on them. Search and you may find out who it was
you might want to consider deleting one of these threads before one of the mods do it for you possibly eliminating the one potential post that has the answer you are looking for.
Got my stock boost gauge to light red...... I understand it's a smaller gauge....but it too has a blueish/green coating on the back of it...... Still turns out red......???
The reason it cannot be brighter is because of the heat it gives off in such a smalll space. So the LEDs will fail much sooner. This is why Autolumination has had such an issue w/their superstar branch.
Now it really has nothing to do with how bright it is.. its the fact of the colors on the light spectrum and blah blah science talk yadda yadda (Beakman's World FTW). lol.
If someone gave me a SRT4 gauge cluster I could rig something up to prototype something to add more lights to the cluster.

Ya, its a mess. You can do it, but I refuse to sacrifice the integrity of my gauges. Just nail polish or sand the back of the gauges.....then reset the needles as need be.
i used the red led kit from vamp. if you use the leds now, without scrapping you will have some nice red needles but the numbers and ticks will be a dark red. really dark lol. maybe in a few weeks ill snag another cluster and see what i can come up with.
