Default All you black housing headlight owners......

Do any of you have HIDS in the aftermarket black housing headlights and if so do you have any issues with them? I was reading online that HIDS in those headlights can damage them. I have HIDS and just bought a used set off the forums and was wondering if I just got my self into some trouble? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Nate

I had HIDs in black housings for a few months before going retro.

Zero issues.

Well, besides the fact that you have to aim them so far down to avoid blinding ppl, thus negating any reason to even do plug 'n play (my stock 9007 blubs had more visable light output due to this.)

I had black housing ones, and they seemed fine with light being on the road. Now the stock ones do work a little better, but dont go with the image i have all black, and then my lights are chrome. Blah.

Unless the black housings are created any different than OEM, no. At 4300k the HID kit looks better than regular bulbs.

The lesser the kelvin number the better the light output ... if you get 10k bulbs then your basically just getting a pretty color. Muledoe deffinetly post pics cause I wanna see a white with the black headlight housings ... if only you had eyelids

Damn 10k is way too blue IMO. Even 8k seems like a "pull me over" color for headlights. Granted they're not purple like some i've seen. 4300K is perfect.

Yeah I see that now that I just installed my 8K HID fogs. I might be selling my 10K bulbs and buying some 8K to match the fogs!!
