Default 8K VHO on my 05 EVO vs. stock EVO MR HID's review.

Well, my buddy who owns a 2005 EVO MR came over my house to help me with my HKS EVC 5 install. while we were doing the install and as it was getting dark, we turned on our HID's lined the cars up side by side and did a comparison.)

(Darksyde feel free to comment)
These are the conclusions that the MR owner and I came to an agreement on:

1) The 8K VHO's look better than the stock OEM HID's on the EVO, hands down
2) 8K VHO looks brighter, more HID'ish, making the OEM HID look like a stock non-HID light
3) The 8K VHO's seem to have a halo effect around the lights.....we concluded that it might be annoying to oncoming drivers/pedestrians.
4) lighting output, my buddy says that they both light up equally but I think the OEM HID gives off more lumens than the 8K kit I have....but I'm gonna keep my 8K VHO bulbs for a while, I may switch to the 6K VHO in the near future

All in all, my EVO looks hot at night with the DarkSyde 8K VHO kit

Bulbs don't get brighter over time, they actually get more dim no mater who makes them. This is just how the bulbs work. They will do what we call "colorshift" as they go throughout their lifespan. What this does is basically as the bulb gets older, the salts burn more and more unefficiently. Color in the output will become more blueish tones and the lumens will die off some.

Same housing/car...my old teg w/ S2K's (oem 4300k bulbs)
old HID bulbs installed

new HID bulbs installed

Side by side (new bulb obviously on the left, old one on the right)

Hak, how long does it take for the bulbs to do this. What was the time differance between your old bulbs and the new ones. It appears to be a drastic change side by side like that.

Those used bulbs pictured have roughly around 700 hours (about 6-7 months) on them.
