55w will cause issues. the bulb life won't be as long, and some rumors have said to melt the projector itself

I know quite a few people running them without any major side effects. It's tru that the bulb life is reduced. The color output is always around the 4300K range regardless of what K bulb you use. Just somethings to keep in mind. For most people, the regular 35w ballasts are all they need.

As far as burning the projector, I've heard some places say it's due to cheap aftermarket bulbs or a cheap projector (any that isn't ment for HID)

Thanks.

A better idea is to sel lthe e46 projectors and upgrade because those are bottom of the barrel. e55's are better and not that expensive.

BMW E46 Gallery - High-Intensity In some of the pictures he shows both the 35w and 55w, I know somewhere on that site there is a side by side comparison.
