Damn that looks AWESOME! Question though, would it be possible to have the vertical bars moved out further so that the bottom bolts up to the bottom seabelt location? Or is there any specific reason why it's bolted to the bottom? I'm just curious.

I see willy lurking ... but I'll answer this question...

the seat would hit the vertical bar if it were to bolt to the bottom seatbelt location... in the pics, the seats are slid forward as far as possible ... I can take more pics with the seats all the way back if you'd like - then you can see the clearance issue with the bottom seatbelt bolt

You can not put them there with the factory seats and you would have to change the bolts and use spacers to many things to go wrong. thanks quote=SilverSerfer;6069687]Damn that looks AWESOME! How uncomfortable would the passengers be if they were to sit in the rear?

very uncomfortable when they slam their face into a 1.5" steel pipe ...

the back is somewhat cramped with the bar in the car ... smaller passengers wouldn't have a hard time sitting back there but I wouldn't recommend it - very unsafe if you were to get in an accident

Everyone needs to understand a couple things though:

1) Most harnesses are not street legal (except Schroth)
2) Running a harness without the proper seat is worse than the factory belt in a crash. If you have a major impact with a harness and it is not "captured" within the seat, it could easily slide over the edges of the seat and off of your shoulders. That means everyone with viper seats needs to get inserts or a "race" seat. The airbag seats can run the harnesses between the head rest post (of course this will be too close and rub the hell out of your neck, and if the headrest comes off you are in the situation mentioned above).

I don't mean to dampen anyone's spirits, but too many people die in these cars already and I want to keep everyone as safe as possible. Chalk it up to the old guy in me!

If you need a good quality camera mount with excellent vibration dampening, try I/O port racing. They have some nice cushioned bolt-on mounts.

+1 to 1lapsrt. thanks for this good info. I thought any race legal harness was street legal.

I actually just read something that said Schroth was only "self-certified" for DOT, which of course means like everyone else, they are not street legal. Do some research, I may be wrong.

Anyways, beautifull piece. I will be getting one soon with some inserts for my seats. Great fab skills.
