Unfortunately, you'll never get a world-class meal when you start with Spam, and neither will you get a world-class hot hatch when you start with a Caliber.
Is this something that could possibly add some structural rigidity to the frame as well? It seem like it might. That would be sweet.

I would Def say no to that. For starters it's going to be bolted to one of the strongest points of the car, but probally on a hem type joint, so it will move some. Secondly There are no forces in this section of the car that would be noticed to flex under stress, well none that a bar of this nature could ever support. Roll cage is about the only thing that would do such.

The entire chassis flexes under hard cornering. It should add a bit of rigidity to the car, as the harness bar will basically become a strut tower bar in the middle of the car. Same concept. Roll cages operate on the same principle, although with a full cage it will just add more rigidity than the bar.
