Sorry, after reading all of the intercooler endtank threads, and Psi-Fi and AGP shit talking eachothers end design. Also, what did people flame lucas when he did his custom spearco intercooler. His endtanks looked like that, and people still gave him the ineffienct bs.
I don't think people were giving him a hard time over the endtank design. Everyone seemed concerned with the core being a fake spearco.
Here are a few things I have found that follows suit here with this IC. and I'm pretty sure willy didn't read this since he can only manage to make it to his forum...lol
"Diamond go for it maybe you'll stumble on the perfect IC for the SRT shorter tube length for less drag more area than stock.
Maybe I should thank you and build one mass produced. That is if your unit makes a marked improvement.
Nemo done..."
"If you've read anything about intercooler design, you know the key is flow, and cooling effciency.
Bar and plate cores are effcient but don't flow as well as tube and fin. It's a trade off, (tube and fin is lighter also). So these are you choice, but the end tank design is critical.
Large cast endtanks can get heat soaked quickly and degrade the effciency. you also want to make the flow transistion smoothly. sharp turns are no good.
I looked into those Ebay intercoolers too. The cores are good but the end tank design needs work. Cast endtanks are ok if they aren't too thick.
If you have access to welders, you could improve the design"
"Awww more intercoolers NO from Spearco... but still advertised as such. Somebody need to inform turbonetics
Most of the information that that guy advertises with is grade A Bull Shit. I would like to know where he got the 35% MORE EFFICENT figure
Heres why- bar/plate cores have to be around 1/2" thicker than a tube/fin core because of the thickness of the bars. This means those 3" thick cores only flow as much as a 2.5-2.625" thick tube/fin. Thats why spearco sells 3.5" thick cores (mostly).
Is he tring to talk about thermal efficency? Thermal efficency mean jack shit if the core can't flow enough (aka pressure loss) because then your turbo has to work harder which equals more heat. And your thermal efficency just went BYE BYE.
Ya, all greddy and HKS intercoolers are total garbage I would never buy shit from somebody who bashs the competion without the shit to back it up.
Direct fit intercoolers take 10x as much time to build vs. a universal intercooler. How do I know? That a secret. JGSTurbo"
Thanks for the feed back. My goal with the intercooler was to get drivability and power there are a lot of different factors when you design an intercooler. To make it efficient some times makes it harder to build but like the rest of you i want the power and drivability. There will be a change in the intercooler for better flow in the next one. The first goal has been reached jean and nivo said the car responds smother and spools up quicker. Now we will see what the dyno says. Working on the price. need to add everything up. I also made the jig for the hard pipe for the turbo convertions from turbo to the rubber tube to the intercooler 2.5 stainless, aluminum or plain steel.
For the record, I never talked about DBs tanks, or cooler. I was shellshocked and battle weary by the time he showed his and never even looked in his thread. Guess I should have.
Willy,
You da man Where in MA are you, anyway?
