I have a 3 year old Sony Wega 38" widescreen HD. The thing weighs a bout 300 lbs
I've got an old 32" Wega, so I know how heavy those things are. I had to haul mine up 2 flights of stairs.....by myself. Not fun.
Dude seriously I picked mine up the first time and I almost shit myself. Its gotta weigh 200lbs. I have been looking into the Sony's. I dont know why im a Sony nutt hugger
I went to Circuit City yesterday to look at some of these HDTV's that are going to be on sale on black friday. I'm looking at TV's in the 42" range or so, so I compaired the following...
In my honest opinion, the above is my order of preference. The Sharp was nice and big, but I wasn't impressed by the color and the black level. Everything looked dark compaired to the other TV's on the same signal. Also, I'm a litle hesitant to get the Sharp because of recent reviews I've read. The Panasonic looked great, considering we were watcing a 1080i feed off of DirecTV HD. The Vizio looked as good, maybe a little better than the Panasonic. I like it over the Panasonic because it has the 1080p if I decide to upgrade my DVD player to HDDVD or BlueRay sometime soon, and I was planning on getting LCD anyway.
I'm 95% sure I'm going to get the Vizio. I'll let you know.

Im going to wait until next Black Friday, we gonna have a lot thinner tvs and betters.
I'll stick with the 60" 480p rear projection unit until then the 360 games look good enough on it
If you want some info on TVs come into my store, like alot of people in the SWFLA area do.. or send me a pm.. I'm too tired right now to post anything longer than this.
sorry, guess I forgot that you're the only person qualified enough to give an opinion on hdtv's right? i love know-it-alls. they crack me up.
when 90% of the people on this forum have no idea what they are talking about its easy to be called a 'know it all'. I do this stuff for a living. I answer the same questions everyday and have to wade through the myths about this stuff. Most of it is the exact same stuff that gets spread around on this forum. Its actually comical. If people would just do their research and use common sense it would make things a lot easier. But until then, we'll continue to read or hear people saying that Plasmas Still have bad issues with burn in.. and so on and so on and so on..
hey man, sorry to bust on ya like that. didn't mean to say that you don't know what you're talking about. i apologize if i came off as rude. you're totally right though, most people don't know shit about this stuff. i don't do electronics for a living or anything, but it's been a passion of mine since i was old enough to mow grass to get my first stereo system over 10 years ago. i do my homework and research when it comes to new products and i, like you, wish others would do the same.
