My Panasonic 42" has an incredible picture, and they use a proprietary cell technology that helps prevent burn-in a LOT more than many other brands. My brother accidentally left a movie paused for an hour and the screen was just fine. Also, some people with other brands (like Pioneer) who play games have complained about HUD burn-in, but I play Halo 3 quite a bit and haven't had one problem.
LCD, Plasma, or DLP?
Plasma

the day after thanksgiving. all the retailers do their huge sales for christmas, one reason its called black friday is because its the beginning of the period in which retailers are in the black...turning a profit.

at 50" or less there is no need for 1080P. Just grab a 1080i/720P TV and save the money.

go with plasma.....almost all the cons people talk about with plasma are gone, just applies to older models. LCDs tend to "ghost" things and i hate the fact that the picture changes depending on the angle you view it at. plasma has a much more vibrant picture and no "ghosting" or issues with black.
a nice 1080i or 1080p plasma is what you want. Sony, LG and JVC make some nice ones, so does Panasonic. stay away from anything in Wal Mart. Vizio = shit.

vizio != shit
they've got very good reviews, everyone i've talked to that owns one loves it. i dont think i've read anything really horrible about them.

Totally agree. I must've looked at a hundred TVs before picking mine, and plasma always impressed me more than the others. And since it's only 42", I saved a ton of cash getting the 1080i model instead of 1080p.
DLP's especially will change depending on your angle. I didn't want to be limited to sitting in one "sweet spot" the whole time.

That's because the type of person that buys a Vizio TV is your basic Wal Mart shopper...not really savvy about anything except buying cheap ass shit. Not qualified to be giving TV reviews. Give them a shitbox Apex 20" tube TV and they're gonna give it rave reviews too.
Just subscribing. I have been looking at A flat screen purchase for a couple months now. For some reason when shopping around, i though the LCD TV's were better looking than the plazma's.
