that is so sad for the viper!!! 780rwhp and couldnt pull on a 360hp srt-4. either he wasnt making that number or you were making way more than 360 or the driver of the viper didnt have a bit clue what he was doing. fact is fact, a 780rwhp should not have any trouble just walking away from a 360fwhp srt-4.
I have pulled on 3 stgs 3 srt-4s with all the toys on race gas. one was making 380fwhp, other was making 385fwhp and the other one said he didnt know but he would assume to be around 380fwhp as well. and I had a 455rwhp heavy ass full weight cobra. 3 cars to 385fwhp one, 4-5 cars to 380fwhp one and surprisingly the other one who said he didnt know his numbers was like 1,5-2 cars behind but he is known as a very good driver.
so 780rwhp blown viper losing to 360fwhp srt-4 doesn't sound right. not calling BS, just saying something is wrong!
Yeah it should have no problem beating a neon.......you would think. 780hp viper > 360hp neon without a doubt. It was fresh off the dyno so it was making those numbers and my car was on the dyno a week before that (same boost, octane, u name it). Like I stated before, alot more come into factor (gearing, traction, power band etc.) with a viper at that level. As soon as his power hit he would break the tires lose with the ass end sliding out a bit and shift before he had any kind of traction what so ever. I was just as surprised as you guys, I mean come on... a 360hp neon hanging with a blown viper wtf. Weather the car was geared for the track or for street, i dont know. All I know was the numbers it put down minutes before, what it had done (blown, built motor, street tires), and what it did when we were playing around. Car was capable of well over 1100hp but they were taking it easy being that it was completed not to long before the dyno day. Sometimes u wish u had a cam in the car :/ ...........

I am not sure if Mike C still races the car or not, but their is a 1400hp srt-4 that I would think wouldn't have a problem handling a 1200hp Viper at the track. I could be wrong though ; ) I think it ran a 7.9 @ 188
Hey man Ive seen you on Carolinarides. You seem to know alot about SRT-4's. How about coming over to SVTP and giving your opinion on things. Not to start shit. Just an honest discusion on the subject. I brought up Dans car in the thread there but I dont know as much about it as you. Maybe you could shed some light. Some of these guys Im just not buying in to.

Well to answer the titles question...I do believe an 800hp srt can beat/keep up with a 1200hp viper (many factors pending of course)
Like what factors? Bad driving maybe. Traction maybe. I would think the Viper would have the upper hand in all areas IMO.Traction to the viper. Rear wheel drive with 335 steam rollers. The srt4 on maybe 225's at most? Not telling. im asking. On the front to make it worse. Obvious better gearing. A stock viper is capable of 190+. Id have to see it to believe it that a stock geared srt4 could hit 180. Im sure its geared up. Most little 4cyl cars are. Im sure youll correct me if Im wrong. Obvious rwhp. By 400 no less. I mean we're talking 50% more power here. Weight going to the srt4 Im sure but not that much difference. On a roll weight has a lot less to do with terminal velocity. Explained to me by a holder of a land speed record. I just dont see anything that points to the posibility of any front wheel drive 800hp car beating a 1200 hp viper.

Man, going on there is like walking into hell with gasoline underwear on. No matter what I say to them guys, they will find a reason to flame me. Dan's car is a beast at a hair under 500whp on stock internals and he knows how to drive good as hell. It's getting ready to go under the knife in the next week or so. As for my beast..........It's about two weeks out

LOL. Man its not that bad. I asked you because I thought you could give some insight. There are alot of good, knowledgable folks there. I know you have what you have. With these other guys who knows. Yeah Dans is no joke. Thats why I brought it up. Now as far as him being a great driver...well... Ive seen him drive. LOL!! Nah he's got his hands full for sure.
My baby is down now too. Developed a tick/tap at the track a few weeks ago. Taking the motor out tomorrow. Going to HPP I think(Alomst ready to commit to them)for a rebuild.

LOL… Some on SVTP will and some will not. Explain in a civil way and it will fly just like a GT3 on a Z06 forum.
All in all, traction is key and then a decent driver, I have out run many a car that were putting out gobs of power over me but I can about go WOT in 1st in my car on the street.
I think the big problem here is realizing they were going from a roll which takes some traction problems out of the picture... I say this thinking a driver knows a little about driving.
