Man, for the last few months it seems like there's so many crazy fuckers going off shooting up bunches of people. It really makes me consider owning a gun. Now I know for some of you, owning a gun is like owning a washer/dryer, but I've never owned my own gun. I've shot plenty, as a kid, as an adult, but I've never owned one, and obviously never carried one in public.
With all the crazy people out there, and the likelihood that it's going to get worse just because the super high unemployment rate is stressing out a lot of stupid fuckers, it's got me wondering if I should apply for a concealed carry permit in Texas and just strap a gun to my leg or something... anyone else feeling concerned about the spree shootings these days?

I'm not a Republican, or a Democrat, I don't even vote and I think they're all equally corrupt and worthless.
I just don't want to be caught in a situation where some crazy motherfucker starts shooting and all I can do is lie down and hope he doesn't shoot me. That's not how I want to go out.
If it never happens, ideally I'd never ever once have to touch the gun aside from strapping it on, and not one person on earth would ever know I'm carrying it, but just in case, I'm on the verge of wanting to have one on me.

You DO have a degree of control in your own life, sure if you get hit by a meteor there's not much you can do, but if that guy shows up with a gun and it's "my time", it's way more likely to be MY TIME if I'm standing there with my dick in my hand than it is if I have a chance to fight back.
Seriously, you can't logically deny that you can take steps to ensure you WILL live longer. "Your time" will come, but you definitely can make it come LATER if you put forth the effort to do so.
Like I said in the other thread, I should not be punished because of someone's potential to go off the deep end and kill a bunch of people. Having the potential to commit a crime is not a crime and we should not be punished for it.
I think all able persons should carry concealed. Able persons being someone that has no history of violence or issues in the head.

No one, and I mean laws or people alike, will tell me that I am not allowed to carry a weapon on my person to protect myself, my friends, and my family. No one.
Prohibiting weapons will not help the situation AT ALL. People are still going to be able to get guns even easier then they would now. Criminals don't have regulations or do background checks, they just care about the money. So they will sell to any and everyone. Plus that's creating a huge black market for those criminals to take advantage of. Which will lead to more violence that comes from those criminal operations.
Concealed weapons permit or not, you're not going to find too many workplaces that will allow you to bring firearms into the office. In most cases, they are not even allowed in their parking lots and property.
