Default How To: Remove all ads from this site.

Step 1: Download Firefox
Step 2: Download Adblock Plus for Firefox
Step 3: Download Filterset.G for Adblock

To do steps 2 and 3 you have to have already installed Firefox. It will do you no good to download these to your desktop. Open up Firefox, click on the links in step 2 and 3, restart Firefox and enjoy no ads. Also enjoy a wayyyyy faster internet experience.

EDIT: This is what it will look like when you are done.

I don't have any add blocker software installed, just the latest mozilla and I get no pop-ups whatsoever.

At first when I saw all the ads load for the first time I thought it was some firefox loading error. Then when it didn't go away, I thought it was some kind of forum nightmare update gone wrong. Then when I saw the thread about it, I said fuck.

I was talking about the ads on the right side (well I assume the right side cause I can't see them ) Just install those ad-ons. You'll love the interweb a lot more.

Ok. Maybe I need to describe what it blocks better.

Firefox has a built in pop up blocker so you pop ups are not an issue. Adblock and Filterset.G block ads ON the site. All of the gay banners, "Shoot George W. and win a Wii", whatever. You'll never see a gayrod banner again.

No gayrod banner = less load time = faster SRT forums.

Looks like the ekoo added more in the last day or so with some minor changes to the layout. Guess all those vendors aren't seeing as big of a prospective market from the cluster-f this site has become with lack of moderation and direction. And if they stop paying I guess you've got to milk all the money you can from everywhere you can.

OMFG it's a lot nicer now

Everyone do it!!!!!!

Although i would think this will get some in trouble. Aren't the Ads intended to "persuade" people to purchase the Premium membership?

The new banners down the sides of the screen really screw up the thread layout now since it shrinks the overall width which subsequently makes all the post long. What a shithole this has become.

It can't get anyone in trouble. No one says you HAVE to look at ads. Just think about what TiVo is doing for TV ads. I've been rocking Firefox with this setup for a lonnnngggg ass time now. Just go check out any other site now.

Congratulations, you just turbo charged your internet.

Premium membership? What premium membership? Unless he's just added a "pay to get no ads" membership plan that I didn't catch. And even if it eventually came down to that (or charging a membership fee to get sig lines, avatars, etc. like some other sites do) I'd never pay for this site now days. Maybe years ago, but now days there isn't much good info being passed, it's been commercialized to the hilt with vendors pushing stuff everywhere and in every single tech thread, and no moderation for things like flaming, spam, abuse, posting in the wrong forums, inappropriate NWS sigs/avatars, and on and on. If everything got flushed away one day I don't think there would be much to miss.
