I was watching the news this morning and apparently this guy in Minnesota was driving a motorized La-z-boy around and ran into a truck or a car. Well the police were called and since he had been drinking, they confiscated it. Now it's on ebay for sale and all proceeds go towards cop equipment.

La-Z-Boy has long been a unique and clever trademark for reclining chairs.
The Proctor Police Department will soon find out how valuable that name is.
After receiving E-Bay bids topping $43,000 for a “La-Z-Boy’’ motorized lounge chair that police confiscated from a man who drove it drunk into a parked vehicle, Proctor Police Chief Walter Wobig said he was notified today that the chair is not a La-Z-Boy and cannot be auctioned as one.
The chair, which can reach speeds of 20 mph, was temporarily removed from the E-Bay site. It went back up on the site again mid-evening, but bidding started over again and there’s no telling whether it will get back above $40,000.
Wobig said Proctor police posted the chair, which is mounted on a lawnmower deck with a Briggs & Stratton engine, under the La-Z-Boy name because that was how it was described in media accounts and police wanted people to know what they were bidding on. The chair received news coverage throughout the United States and overseas.
Wobig said he had a pleasant conversation with a representative of La-Z-Boy on Monday. He said La-Z-Boy didn’t ask that the chair be removed from auction, but did ask that the company name not be used. La-Z-Boy’s corporate counsel also contacted the News Tribune asking that it not use its trademark in future news reports about the motorized chair.
Wobig said the chair was custom built and there are no markings or manufacturer’s names on it.
“I’m going to make sure that we get it relisted for the auction and keep any trademark names out of it,’’ he said.
Wobig said the chair was reposted tonight under the headings: “DWI Chair,’’ Motorized Chair,’’ and “Racing Chair,’’ under the E-Bay listing 150385696050. He said it will be up for bid for three days.
“This has just been one nightmare,’’ Wobig said and then joked: “I can’t wait until it’s over. It’s going to cause me to drink.’’
High bidder on Proctor DWI chair: 'There seems to be a mistake'
The high bidder for Proctor’s DWI motorized chair said that he never meant to bid $10,999.99 for the chair on eBay.
Proctor is having problems getting rid of the internationally famous motorized chair it seized from a drunk driver.
The high bidder for the chair said that he never meant to enter a $10,999.99 bid on eBay.
“I am surprised that someone would be bid on it and then try to back out of the contract,” Proctor Chief of Police Walter Wobig said today. “The individual is the winning bidder. I turned it over to the city attorney and we’ll see what the city wants to do about it. Probably within a day or two I’ll know what we are going to do with it again.”
Proctor contacted Clayton Adler of Cupertino, Calif., when he didn’t submit the required $2,000 deposit within 48 hours after the auction closed Thursday. On Monday, Adler e-mailed the city, saying: “I apologize, but there seems to be a mistake. I did not mean to bid this amount, as well as I cannot afford this. I am truly sorry for the mix up and the wasted time.”
The city has given the second-highest bidder a chance to purchase the chair. However, that person, who bid $9,999.99, hasn’t responded and the city’s offer ends this afternoon.
“I don’t believe that he will be buying it,” Wobig said.
Police seized the chair in August 2008 after its former owner drove it into a parked vehicle after drinking. The custom–made chair is powered by a lawnmower engine and features running lights, a stereo, a rear–view mirror, a magazine rack and cup holder.
The chair actually went on the auction block twice. The first time it was listed as a La-Z-Boy. But eBay pulled the chair from auction on Nov. 2 when the manufacturer pointed out that the chair was not a La–Z–Boy. At that time, the top bid for the motorized recliner was more than $43,000.
“Someday I will get rid of this chair,” Wobig said. “Someday this chair will leave the area.”
