As some may know I'm in the parting out process and will be most likely trading her in soon. I owe nothing and the car will be almost stock when I trade her...hoping to get 15. Anywho...I had originally been looking at the wrx wagon's for their okay performance and nice amount of room. Well they seem to be far and wide to find at the price I can actually afford(around 2-3 above trade-in...so 17k). I pretty much hate every other car in the world except maybe one...the G35 sedans. Not the coupe's....but the sedans. Well I've started looking and found that they are everywhere and in my price range. I can pick up one with around 40-60k(depending on how much I spend) and either a 2003-2004. Seems they have the vq35 and are rwd so that's a plus. My mom has had an altima with the vq35 since 2002 and only problem a dead battery. My dad had a G for 4 years and no problems to speak of. Decent gas mileage, looks alright, nice interior, okay power...What do ya'll think? Only other car I seemed to find under the same criteria is the Subaru Legacy GT.
I like the G 35's, definitely a better choice than a legacy man.
Plus by owning a G you basically are moving a step up, from our regular sports car, to a sport/luxury sedan.
Approved!
i agree with numb nuts up there. i had an 02 Maxima with a VQ35 and 6spd manual tranny. nice car, no issues with it ever. the G is even better with the RWD and there is pretty good aftermarket support out there for it. try and find a 6 speed version if you can.
ive had my eyes open for a g35 sedan for awhile... but then i started liking the coupe a lot more, since it looks a lot better IMO and easier to find with a 6speed... they are very nice cars though and i would trade my car for one with the same mileage straight up, but that isnt going to happen :-(
yeah i think thats about the same situation with me... i also like how fast my car is, and scared that i would be disapointed afterawhile with the g35... and the aftermarket is really expensive with those cars i believe...
I went on several g35 forums and could only find issues with the beggining 03 6 speeds. If the g's have problems then so shouldn't altimas and whatever else has the vq35...
If you're buying 03 or 04 the auto tranny's had serious issues.
I can't really comment on this other than to say that my parents have an 03 G35 sedan w/auto tranny and it has never had one single issue, EVER. It has been by far the best car they've ever bought. Car has close to 75K on it now and they bought it showroom new.
Almost all were for the first and second year models. If you plan to go with one of those years make sure it got everything serviced by the dealership first. Good note is that by 05 things cleared up and it's been smooth sailing.
Well I cant exactly afford an 05...I did some research on some g35 forums and could only find issues grinding issues with the 6mt and rought shifting with the 5at. Would you care to explain your reasoning a little bit further...and how you came about this information...
