I had as much fun as any of you at this event. I kinda thought Ethan, Rob, and I would be bombarded with questions for two days. Instead we hung out with a bunch of SRT4 crazies and got TONS of track time. We're car nuts just like you. That's why we fit in. Hell, all my friends are just like you guys, too. Some are just into different rides. I haven't always been a Dodge guy either. I had one of the first SE-R's back in 1991. Before that, I was an '87 LX 5.0 Mustang punk.
I do want to clear some things up:
1) I am not a driving god. I was flying off the track, cording tires, and knocking my alignment out just like everyone else in 1992. I've just been at this for a long time. Took racing up to the highest level I could until I ran out of talent and money after 1998. I've raced against Galati, Altenburg, and done some testing with Tommy Archer. I've never been as talented as those guys who can make a living at it. If I was, I wouldn't have this day job. I remember at one Viper test at Blackhawk, I got within the same second as Tommy and was feeling pretty good about myself. Tommy went out and, and put another full second hurt on my best time. That shut me up.
2) I was holding the Evo up in the Orange ACR. I was so focused on the slow Vette in front of me, I held him up for too long. If I was him, I would have passed my ass. We did have him handled in the lightweight car, though.
3) The secret car was going to be the SRT10 One Lap Truck. Unfortunately, it was not back from some Mopar drag event when we had to ship cars. So we made sure we could bring the commemorative SRT4 to show you that instead.
4) The commemorative SRT4 was only representative on the outside because that is all we have. It is the actual car on the hero card. We just didn't have parts to update the interior, yet.
5) Even though our 2005 One Lap entry says SRT16 Hurricane, we're gonna show up in a 300C SRT8. It should be faster than the SRT10 truck, which was faster than the One Lap SRT4. We'll see how fast everyone else is.
6) Fastest time in the ACR on the full course was 1:28.1. On Sunday, I entered the lightweight car in the wheel to wheel brackets in the fastest RED group. It qualified at a 1:22.0. I pretty sure I passed the whole field. I lapped a couple of guys twice. The next fastest car on the grid was a baby grand at a 1:24.8. People were, like, WTF!?! It really didn't serve any purpose to go run the race, we packed things up and headed for the airport.
See you all next year,
Erich
Thank you for taking the time to post! You are awesome!! what you did for us at one lap was just amazing! Thanks for working on dan's wheel stud problem. Please hang around and help us out. We have lots of suspension questions for ya.

Absolutely. I didn't get to talk to Ethan or Erich (I did lend my tools to Ethan though so he could work on adding a harness extension for the TPS to a guy's car), but my wife and I did talk to Rob for quite a few minutes as my car was being dynoed. All three guys signed my shirt when I asked, and did so with humility and class. Rob is a great guy. Not only did he entertain my newb conversation-making about our cars, he took me out for a few laps in the ACR, and it was AWESOME. Anybody that says it's just a stocker with coilovers and wheels isn't getting it. With just those upgrades that thing felt like it was on a rail compared to my bone stock '05. To me that's a real testament to the potential of these cars. Anyhow, I had a blast. Just getting to stand around listening to the SRT guys talk with others was a real privilege and education. Rob, thanks again for being so nice, and for the great instruction using the ACR as your classroom!
And I also want to give thanks to Rick Snyder who rode with me on my last session during DE. Rick your guidance was absolutely invaluable. I clearly had very little idea of what the right things to do were when I drove by myself. Not only could I tell a world of difference in the quality of my driving on the third session, but my wife who volunteered to be a cornerman at turn 8 also commented (a bit nervously ) how much faster I was negotiating the track. Thanks for the help that allowed me to get so much more out of the experience in such a short time.
man... i def am coming next year... i had so much shit going on this year, it just wasnt feasable... but next year... me and the fellow SRT-4Mation boys and girls from NY/NJ/PA are def making our presence known!!
I have my hotel booked for next year already....wait...we dont know where its gonna be yet? ...k...nm...
Looks like it was awesome...nice pics guys...I deffinately wanna be there next year!!
