Talking Woo Hoo...Finally

Well, I've been out of the riding scene for awhile. Other than getting to barrow peoples bikes, and riding the ones at the shop...I really didn't get to ride much.

Well, this past bike week, my family came down like always with their bikes. And came by my shop to see me. And as I went outside to say hi, my father was like 'hey get this damn crotchrocket off my truck'. I asked why it was on there, and they said it was mine now . It was a friends of theirs, and he was selling it for awhile now...guess he didn't have much luck selling it.

1999 R1 w/ 2000 plastics

I was stoked...I can't turn down a free bike. I was in the market for a new CBR or R1, but couldn't get financed. So I'll settle for this as I've been itching to ride.

It's been/was sitting for year. So in a matter of a day (more like over night) I went ahead and changed the tires, oil, cleaned and synced the carbs, changed out the plugs, cleaned, lubed, & adj. the chain (will need a new one), changed out the front brake lines (had some laying around). And just cleaned off a lot of gunk that got built up on it. Got it running pretty good, rode to bike week with the family...def needs a chain, and front wheel bearings.

As for my plans, not sure. I was thinking of keeping up with the maintenance till next bike week, and hit up the auctions with my boss and see what else I can get my hands on. But def will do a 520 conversion, wheel bearings, coolant flush, still have to see why after a few hundred miles it starts to run on 3 cylinders (I'll have to check my plugs, wires, & coils), The exhaust is a bit annoying as the original owner (who I know), took out the packing (and can't seem to find a full system for it). I'm not a big fan of polish, but I did a quick clean up, came out pretty good...will take some time to really clean it up. Still trying to get the suspension settings to my liking too.

I'll get more pics up as I take some...these were some quick ones I took while at the show on Sunday.

I hope that means you wear your bike all the time. It kills me to see people riding a bike with no helmet. What also gets me is when I'll see someone wearing say a helmet but a cheap cotton tee flapping around their neck like they're going to break dance on their helmet or land on their feet and not have to worry about their back/stomach.

Back to the topic on hand. Congrats on the new ride!

At least your man enough to say it.

Check out: New Enough Motorcycle Apparel sells motorcycle jackets, pants and suits, boots, gloves, helmets, etc :: New Enough, LTD or Motorcycle & Leather Clothing Store - Motorcycle Jackets, Helmets, Biker Boots, Leather Pants & Chaps as they sometimes have good deals on gear. Granted your best bet is to search locally on CL but that gives you some ideas in case you have a tough time.

Maybe the OP can let you know where some deals are as well Ian. I'd hate for you to go down and get an injury that could've been prevented.

That SRT in the background makes it look sick.
